IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR... PLEASE BE CAREFUL OUT ON THAT ICE!

TIME TO START THINKING ABOUT SUP's!
Okay, you got a SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard).  Did you know that per Coast Guard rules, if it is not operated within a surfing, swimming, or bathing area, it is considered a "VESSEL"?  Guess what, that means it is regulated like a vessel, and:

You are required to carry a PFD (if 13 or over) or WEAR IT (if under 13).
ALSO a whistle or other sound device is required.
AND, if after sunset, a flashlight is required.

SOUNDS LIKE A SHORT TRAINING CLASS WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA
That's what we think, too.  We are planning to conduct some short training classes for SUP operators.  Stay tuned, we will announce new classes soon.

NEW ONLINE NAVIGATIONAL CLASS!
The Coast Guard Auxiliary, in partnership with the Boat US Foundation, has launched a new educational program for boaters, an online, self-study course called Modern Marine Navigation.  Boaters who enroll in this course will learn, using their own computers or tablets, in the comfort of their own homes. The cost is $40, but there is a 10% discount for using the promo code:  0953106
